Sleep Apnea In the News

Seems like you're reading it in the news every day, Sleep apnea, its serious effects, and the importance of diagnosing and treating this condition.  Do you realize 1 out of every 5 patients that enter your dental office has undiagnosed and/or untreated Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)?  This week your practice alone will have 5 undiagnosed mild OSA patients and 2 undiagnosed sleep bruxism patients walking through your doors...and they can be treated by you!  Left untreated, OSA patients are at risk of developing high blood pressure, heart attack, diabetes, obesity, and several other associated co-morbidities.

Uncover OSA & Bruxism with DDME Technology!

You are the first line of defense for patients with mild to moderate OSA and Bruxism.  According to recently published guidelines, oral appliance therapy managed by a trained dentist can be the initial therapy for patients diagnosed with mild to moderate OSA.

Sleep Bruxism is a common sleep problem, estimated to affect 8-10% of Americans.  DDME is recognized as an industry leader for developing tools specifically designed for dentists to monitor Sleep Apnea and Bruxism as associated conditions.  With DDME's ABi Index
(Apnea Bruxism Index) powered by DDME technology, we can not only help you discover that relationship, you'll be empowered to diagnose and treat your own patients with oral appliance therapy!

Consult on Monday, Treat on Thursday...

With a DDME partnership, your practice will have its own Nox T3 Home Sleep Test Monitor that will diagnose both mild sleep OSA and Bruxism and will identify other significant types of apnea such as central sleep apnea.  Your patient will take home the monitor, results are immediately uploaded and analyzed, and your practice receives a diagnosis from a Board Certified Sleep Professional in our regional network, often the very next day!

The diagnosis will
clearly state the category (Central or Obstructive) and severity of OSA, (Mild, Moderate and Severe), and whether Bruxism is present.  The diagnosis also includes the recommended course of treatment and when it is not appropriate to be treated by oral appliance therapy.

Many dentists do not realize that most HST monitors in the market today cannot adequately report the presence of central sleep apnea.  With DDME's technology, these vital measurements are made and patients will be treated most appropriately.  We ensure our members are not merely 'silencing' the apnea, but effectively treating the patient's condition. Together with DDME, you can be assured your practice is staying within The Scope of Practice and following Medical Guidelines.
